A newborn photoshoot at home in Blackheath

I was absolutely delighted to photograph this beautiful family recently at their home, filled with natural light and plants in the beautiful village of Blackheath, London. The family were looking for some really natural photos of their newborn baby who was only 5 weeks old at the time, and they had just returned home from Italy where he was born, so the pictures were all part of them settling into their home together and getting to know their new baby. I wanted to capture some really authentic and relaxed images of them bonding and spending time together as a family, and we had a lot of fun with this photoshoot too. 

At one point we were joined by Coco the cat who, despite the lovely pictures, was not keen to make friends and I was warned ‘not to make too much eye contact’…but maybe next time Coco?

This home in Blackheath village was full of natural light and we were really lucky to have some beautiful sunshine on the day, which poured in through big Georgian windows. Little one was super sleepy during most of his photoshoot and woke up towards the end, opening up his big eyes. Babies can be awake or asleep during my photoshoots, I’m not one to disturb them if they’re in need of a nap! Usually we can get some sleepy and some more alert pictures of them awake during our time together, and the most important thing is that we have a really relaxed experience during the photoshoot.
